“Woke” or also called “wokeness” comes from English and means “woke up” or “alert”. Today, the term is used colloquially mainly for attention (alertness) or sensitivity to people from minorities and moments of discrimination. The main focus of the Wokeness movement is on topics such as racism, sexism and similar discrimination. Not infrequently, however, the term is also used for supposedly general structural and political grievances.
